Academic Research and Teaching in UEL. UK with OPNET

In the school of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (ACE), OPNET is used for research and teaching purposes. OPNET software has been incorporated into undergraduate and postgraduate modules and forms part of the continuous assessment. The software is also used by BSc students for their final year projects and MSc students for conducting dissertation research that leads to the award of degrees.

In ACE our interest is to conduct research on the behaviour of different computer system namely VPN, Grid and Cloud computing under different loads and applications.  Performance evaluation, optimisation and the effect of data representation in complex networks are our research goals.

University: University of East London
Name of Sponsoring Lecturer:  Aloysius Edoh
School: Architecture, Computing and Engineering (ACE)

Teaching and module assignment using OPNET

  1. In ACE, OPNET is used to demonstrate the concepts, principles and operations of computer networks to the graduate and undergraduate students. It is also used as a media to illustrate how live computer networks behave under different loads and evaluate their performances.

OPNET simulation package is used to teach the following modules.
Click any of the links below to access the individual module information and specification:-

  2. OPNET for continuous module assessment
  3. On the MSc programs, students have to complete individual assignment using OPNET to pass the module. Select any of the links below to view some students’ assignments:-

    • Modelling computer network for Medical Centre with OPNET - Qazi Mohammed Fuzail Fahad
    • Network performance analysis using OPNET
    • Modelling and simulating Wireless Networks; Judith Okeke
