Transformation for Excellence 2010 - 2020

Vice-Chancellor’s University Strategy

Dear colleagues,

Following an extensive consultation process for the Green Paper throughout the spring, which saw an incredible 500 members of staff and students University-wide attend events and providing feedback, I am delighted to announce the publication of the definitive University Strategy 2010-20: Transformation for Excellence.

This strategy document sets out the definitive vision for UEL for the next ten years. We have built this strategy up together across the entire institution and it is something which I hope we all identify with as being our map for our future. We now need to work through the details of the implementation for the journey of the next decade. There is no doubt that difficult times face the sector but now at UEL we have a clear sense of our priorities and of our direction of travel. I intend to maintain my consultative and inclusive approach which many of you have welcomed as we develop our detailed plans for the practical action that flows from our ambitious strategy.

It is therefore a hugely important document for us all, and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to and been involved in the consultation process that has led to its development. Everyone's feedback and comments have been very carefully considered and listened to, and have had a significant influence in the final development stages of this strategy. This has helped to ensure that this 10-year strategy is a document for all of us at UEL.

Patrick McGhee
Vice-Chancellor
