Brief Biography:
My research is investigating the role that design and the designer can play in creating solutions to combat problems effecting social wellbeing, in areas such as health and education. As a society we are now realising the importance of creating a sustainable future (environmentally, socially and economically) and with this emphasis on sustainability, there are new areas for designers to operate in.
In 2005 I set up Us-Creates with Zoe Stanton, a design company with an emphasis on social sustainability that operates within these new areas. The company identifies social problems and works with a range of experts and target users to co-design solutions. Us-Creates is currently designing interventions to encourage healthier eating habits in the borough of Tower Hamlets (for the Experience Food Knowledge collaboration) and in the workplace (Experience Food at Work).
