The competition - The Big Pitch - hosted by Vauxhall Football, asked entrants to write in 100 words why they should win the incredible experience.
Chris and nearly 30 other budding Wayne Rooneys were chosen as the winners of the exciting experience. Earlier this month, Chris got to go through all the motions of a professional footballer, with a team talk, pre-match warm up, walking out of the famous tunnel onto the pitch, singing the national anthem and playing a match on Wembley’s hallowed turf.
Playing under the management of former Chelsea Assistant Manager, Ray Wilkins, Chris’ team, which included Ronnie Irani from talkSport, put Stuart Pearce’s team to the sword by winning three nil in a convincing victory. Stuart Pearce, who is currently the manager of the England under-21 team, also had BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans as one of his special guest players.
Speaking about the experience, Chris said: “I’m so happy I won this competition, as Wembley Stadium is such an iconic venue. It was an amazing and unforgettable day, especially as I’m currently a sports journalism student.”
